Paeonia hybrida (P. intermedia). Species. A species hailing from the Altai Mountains of Russia. The species has been grouped with Paeonia intermedia by some taxonomists, while Russian sources consider it a separate species. The name can be confusing, as it is not a hybrid. Seeds are small and generally smaller than those of Paeonia tenuifolia and are less elongated. Roots are variable in width and length, often appearing similar to P. tenuifolia, but on other specimens more elongated (see image in gallery). From seed collected in the Altai Mountains. Our offering is for seed grown blooming size divisions and are true to name. Fertile within the species, but not tested with others. Thus far P. hybrida has been of easy culture in Wisconsin. A rare and authentic species. Ships in late September to mid October.
