‘Age Of Gold’.  Saunders.  1948.  F1 lutea hybrid. American Peony Society Gold medal winner, 1973.  Semi-double to double golden yellow with red flares at center (not generally visible).  Petals are elegantly ruffled, resembling a Camelia.   Light vanilla scented flowers.  Excellent fast growing shrub.  Easily makes own root divisions.  Flowers face outward and hang slightly, but presentation is excellent.  Nice finely cut light green foliage often tinged in red.  To 3.5 feet in Wisconsin, but has good stem hardiness.  Will produce seed rarely and resulting offspring are outstanding. Blooms after Suffruticosa Group and Suffruticosa/Rockii cultivars. Saunders seedling number:  14300A.  Ships in late September to mid October.  AGE: Field grown, 4+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
