Spellbound (2 year graft)

Spellbound.  Irvine/Sutherland.  2001.  Advanced generation lutea hybrid.  Grown from seed produced from Bill Seid’s Lutea hybridizing program and selected in New Zealand.  Double flowers have a cream-yellow base color overlaid with coral-red, creating a somewhat orange appearing color.   Flowers tend to fade to yellow blends, but are always gorgeous.   Highly variable flower color expression may be seen due to the climate and soils on which it is being grown.  Slower-growing plants here in Wisconsin, but reliable.   Gorgeous deep green foliage.   An exceptional plant and flower.  Seedling #548/61.  Parentage:  (Seidl mixed pollens x Rosalind Elsie Franklin).  Plants produce highly fertile pollen and can produce seed with compatible partners. Ships in late September to mid-October. These are 2 year old grafted plants.  While plants are relatively small, they have youthful vigor and make wonderful additions to the garden.  Plant and grow them as you would older woody peonies.
