La Tenebreuse (The Dark One). Riviere. P. delavayi x Suffruticosa lineage. Unregistered. The large single form flowers present dark red petals (nearly chocolate in cool conditions). Flowers have a beautiful velvety texture. Flower stems are long and are clothed in finely dissected foliage. La Tenebreuse is a vigorous grower, and plants become large over time. This magnificent peony displays its Paeonia delavayi origins through its heart of red stamens, which turn yellow when they burst and release their pollen. A rare, unique, and beautiful plant. Ships in late September to mid-October. AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
