Royal Albatross.  Irvine/Sutherland.  2001.  Advanced generation lutea hybrid.  Grown from seed produced from Bill Seid’s Lutea hybridizing program and selected in New Zealand.  The large single to semi-double flowers are cream with light purple tinges to the petals with black flares.   Petals are notched and ruffled at the outer edges. Good flower carriage on plants with a measured growth rate.  May lose stems in winter, but reliably regrow to bloom in the spring.   Height to 3.5 feet in Wisconsin and slightly greater width.  Seedling # 524/4.  Seed fertility noted, but no data on pollen.  Parentage:  Seidl #135 x Rosalind Elsie Franklin. Ships in late September to mid-October.  AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
