Jupiter’s Overcoat. Bremer. 2025. Herbaceous Hybrid. Parentage: (Tranquil Dove x Dreamtime). Seedling number: 13NB#6. Four inch flowers are light pink with muted basal flares and very light watermark patterns maybe seen on petal surfaces as they fade. Petals are spathulate in shape and are somewhat variable in size (smaller at center of flower). Watermark pattern is quite pronounced on the backsides of petals. Generally two rows of petals, with variable extra petals near the center of the flower. Two to four violet-red stigmas are seated on light green carpels with a moderately white hairy covering. Red-violet stamens are short and are a light pink toward tips. No usable pollen noted, but has seed fertility. The name of this cultivar relates to planet Jupiter’s beautiful patterns in relation to petal backs on this cultivar. Plants are short at 18 inches. Foliage is leathery and deep green. Leaflets are relatively short, pointed and widen at the center. Leaflets are much like those of the parent ‘Tranquil Dove’ and are quite unique. Buds are ball shaped with complete bud covers. Stems strong and upright. 1 main bud, often with two sidebuds. Excellent for the rock garden. Of easy culture. May be useful as a parent in crosses aimed at more double flowers carried on short plants. Premium divisions ship late September to mid October.
