Hong Guan Yu Zhu (2 year graft)

Hong Guan Yu Zhu.  Dezhong. Circa 1985. P. rockii influence hybrid.  Chinese Gansu Mudan.  Semi-double to double light rose-purple with many fringed petals that are turned in many directions toward the center.  Dark basal flares are generally not visible on double flowers.  Flares show as white on the underside of the petals.  Beautiful small leaflets on broad plants (to 4 feet in Wisconsin).  Good, hardy stems.  Seed fertility noted.  Mid-season woody peony bloom time. Ships in late September to mid-October. These are 2 year old grafted plants.  While plants are relatively small, they have youthful vigor and make wonderful additions to the garden.  Plant and grow them as you would older woody peonies.
