Rose Flame. Saunders. 1950. Fully semi-double flower; many matte (no gloss) rounded petals in a rose-form. Unique color: rosy with a smoky rosy tone.  Flares are small, dark, and not easily visible. Filaments dark. Stamens few. Stigmas light pink; sheath lilac or invisible. Carpels about 8, naked and cream-color. Plants are rather dwarf, with reddish stems; foliage is narrow and matte (no gloss).  Unique plants won’t be confused with other cultivars.  Rare and limited availability.  Ships in late September to mid-October. These are 2 year old grafted plants.  While plants are relatively small, they have youthful vigor and make wonderful additions to the garden.  Plant and grow them as you would older woody peonies.
