America. Rudolph/Klehm. 1976. Herbaceous hybrid. Single, Parentage Burma Ruby x unknown. First bloomed 1960. Early. Fiery red flower, tulip like cupped buds, ruffled flower petals. Has pollen and stamens, and does set seed with compatible parents.  Blooms are 30% larger than Burma Ruby (quite large). 28″ height. Exceptionally strong stems carry the large flowers in an upward facing direction. 8-10 blooms on a three-year-old plant. Clean green foliage.  Excellent and not grown widely enough – SUPERIOR. American Peony Society Gold Medal winner – 1992. Premium divisions ship late September to mid October.
