Old Soldier

Old Soldier.  Seidl/Bremer.  2016.  Herbaceous hybrid.  Seedling  number is #74H120-6.  Tetraploid.  Large medium red semi-double flowers, carried on thick heavy 28″ to 32″ stems that do not require staking.  Flowers fade to a pink-red as they age.  Light green carpels, pink stigmas and yellow filaments.  Old Soldiers leaves are deep green and broad.  A fast growing plant that is highly fertile both ways and produces some of the largest seed we have seen in herbaceous hybrids.  Plants go dormant at the end of September.  Very good double seedlings of bright pink coloration are in evaluation from this plant.   (Blushing Princess x Pehrson’s Sable-Eclipse hybrid.)  Week 3-4 bloom time.  An excellent hybridizer’s plant for production of highly variable offspring.   Premium divisions ship late September to mid October.
