Paeonia officinalis ‘Mt. Baldo’ form

Paeonia officinalis ‘Mt Baldo’ form.  Species.  Herbaceous species.  From seed collected on Mt. Baldo, Italy. Single plum red colored flowers are usually goblet shaped.  P. officinalis is a highly variable species and noted differences occur between regional populations.  Oddly, this species is not widely grown even though it is of easy culture.  Wonderful ornamental deeply lobed foliage.   Often adventitious root systems.  Prefers a dry location during the summer months.  Relatively short mounded plants. Unique and great for rock gardens.  Blooming size divisions. Premium divisions ship late September to mid October.
