Paeonia tenuifolia var. rosea. Herbaceous species.  Originating from the Crimean peninsula and adjacent areas, these plants have wonderful fine ‘fern leaf’ foliage.  They are extremely cold-tolerant and of easy culture if planted in full sun in highly drained soils. This variety is the same as the more common red color form, but has delicate light pink flowers.  Paeonia tenuifolia and its various varieties and cultivars are among the first peonies to bloom in early spring and are very resistant to freeze damage.  Plants are blooming size and are typically 14 to 18 inches in height when in bloom. Blunt, rounded root segments are sausage-like.  Plant in full sun in a well-drained location that never becomes wet.  Outstanding little plants for the rock garden or front of the border.  Blooming size divisions. Premium divisions ship late September to mid-October.
