Pearl Stacey. Tetraploid Asiatic Hybrid. The “Pearl” series was developed by Robert Griesbach through the hybridizing of converted diploid cultivars to tetraploids. These hybrids were a step forward in superior plant habits. Plants in the “Pearl” series have notably better plant habits (waxy deep green leaves, flowers of heavier substance, superior flower carriage and stem strength). Additionally all plants in the group are extremely vigorous. Pearl Stacey produces gorgeous waxy light melon blooms with a few spots is superior to most, if not all, other similarly colored flower asiatics. Premium bulbs ship after October 15 – the proper planting time for northern tier gardens.
