Demetra. Daphnis. Circa 1986. Advanced generation lutea hybrid.  Seedling #: (D-19).  Parentage:   L-26 x J39 (Shin-tenchi). Double golden flowers on strong stems held well above the foliage. Petals are rimmed with red. Named after the Greek goddess of the earth. No fertility.  A truely beautiful cultivar that has a long bloom period due to later stems producing flowers at different times.   Foliage is deep blue-green, wide and often has a glossy appearance.  Note: ‘Demetra’ was heavily distributed throughout the world as ‘Golden Mandrin’, which is registered as a single gold flower. Nearly all sources selling ‘Golden Mandarin’ are likely selling ‘Demetra’.  Most gardens with plants label ‘Golden Mandarin’ are actually ‘Demetra’ due to the mix up in years ago by early propagators and distributors.  Ships in late September to mid October.    AGE: Field grown, 4+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.

Color: Blends-Patterns, Yellow
