Black Panther.  Saunders.  1948.  F1 lutea hybrid.  Black Panther has very dark ‘black-red’ flowers that are semi-double in form.  Petals are frilled and ruffled and have a shiny sheen.  The deeply colored flowers have an attractive mass of yellow waxy anthers that contrast.   Plants are very upright growers and are taller than wide.  Height is to 4 feet in Wisconsin and have better than average stem hardiness for a lutea hybrid.  This is not a heavy blooming plant, but is reliable each year.  Foliage is narrow and irregular.  Always in high demand and rare.  No fertility.  Ships in late September to mid October.  AGE: Field grown, 4+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
