Caroline Bay

Caroline Bay. Irvine/Sutherland. 2001. Advanced generation lutea hybrid. Seedling #233/2.  Parentage:  Seidl #21 x unknown. Deep reddish-pink semi-double flowers upon opening, with short maroon flares.  Flowers later fade to reveal a light cream-yellow base that is infused with rosy-pink highlights. Stigmas are red.  Some flower color variation has been noted, with an attractive bright cream-yellow and pink picotee variant being most common (excellent – see gallery).  Good flower carriage.  Foliage is a healthy medium green.   Nicely ruffled and rounded petals create an overall round flower.  From Bill Seidl seed that was sent to New Zealand in the 1990s.    Ships in late September to mid-October.  AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
