Caroline Bay. Irvine/Sutherland. 2001. Advanced generation lutea hybrid. Seedling #233/2. Parentage: Seidl #21 x unknown. Deep reddish-pink semi-double flowers upon opening, with short maroon flares. Flowers later fade to reveal a light cream-yellow base that is infused with rosy-pink highlights. Stigmas are red. Some flower color variation has been noted, with an attractive bright cream-yellow and pink picotee variant being most common (excellent – see gallery). Good flower carriage. Foliage is a healthy medium green. Nicely ruffled and rounded petals create an overall round flower. From Bill Seidl seed that was sent to New Zealand in the 1990s.
