Cat’s Eye Nebula

Cat’s Eye Nebula. Bremer. 2022. Suffruticosa Group Cultivar. Rockii influence hybrid. Seedling #NB-SH79. Parentage: (Seidl MRV-11 x Angel Emily). A sib cross – both parents are from a cross of Rock’s Variety x Shintenchi. Large semi-double flowers sport 3 to 4 rows of brightly colored petals of deep pink color and are veined in deeper pink. Each petal is marked with deep black-maroon flares. Ruffled and crinkled petals are large with a large single mid petal notch and surrounded by many small notches along their edges. Stigmas and sheath are white. Filaments are violet and are tipped in white with normal yellow anthers. Plants become tall over time to 5 feet in Wisconsin and may become taller when not grown in the open field. 10 year plants can be expected to be 4 or more feet in width. Strong woody stems carry many flowers which bloom at the beginning of the Suffruticosa Group season. Flower carriage is upright. Foliage is finely structure with many mid sized leaflets of medium matte green. Vigorous and easily grown into specimen sized plants. May serve as an excellent landscape candidate since foliage remains in good condition until late in the growing season. Named for the planetary nebula found in the northern constellation of Draco. Flares create an eye-like feature lending to this name.  Ships late September to mid October.  AGE: Field grown, 4+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
