Chinese Dragon. Saunders. 1948. F1 lutea hybrid. Single; 10-14 petals, purple-crimson. Flares large and dark. Filaments coarse, maroon. Stigmas almost crimson; sheath purple. Foliage luxuriant, finely cut, with bronze tips. Foliage is quite unique among the woody peonies.  Stems purplish-crimson. Fertile pollen, no seed fertility.  Heavily used in hybridizing as a pollen parent by William Seidl. Excellent.  American Peony Society Gold medal winner – 1983.  Ships late September to mid October.  AGE: Field grown, 4+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
