Companion of Serenity.  Gratwick.  1960.  Suffruticosa.   Lovely, large, ruffled, delicate pink blossoms with slight red inner flares. Flowers fade to white and are nothing but stunning.  A perfectly named plant, as the flowers have a serene look to them.   Foliage is large and dark green.  Excellent stems present the blooms in an upward carriage.   We have been using this beauty in our hybridizing program often over the past several years with good results.   This plant is a slow grower, and plants are always on the smaller size (3′ x 3′) in Wisconsin.  Seed and pollen fertile. These are 2 year old grafted plants.  While plants are relatively small, they have youthful vigor and make wonderful additions to the garden.  Plant and grow them as you would older woody peonies.
