Corsair. 1941. Saunders. F1 lutea hybrid. Deep red flowers with notched and ruffled petals.  Flower substance is heavy.  Flares large, “black.” Filaments are coarse and dark red. Stigmas small, pink. Sheath creamy lilac-rose. Typically, the plant produces a limited number of flowers compared to other Lutea Hybrid Group plants.  Lightly glaucous foliage is finely dissected. Plant habit is relatively low, and plants reproduce with suckers.  Suckers can appear more than 1 foot away from the next closest stem.  This is a sought-after collector’s plant.  AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
