Cranapple. Saunders. Unregistered. Lutea Hybrid. Cream with hints of red. This plant was known by Silvia Saunders as ‘Cranapple’ and was likely seedling #12788. The terminals are often killed during cold winters, and bloom is sparse afterward. Foliage has many small lobes with sharp points and is attractive. The plant produces many ground stems and is a prolific grower. Parentage unknown. Does produce sparse amounts of seed, as expected. A historic cultivar sought by Saunders peony collectors. Ships in late September to mid-October. AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
