Crimson Tide. Bremer. 2026. Lutea Hybrid. Parentage: (‘KC’ Red x ‘Coral Star’) Semi-double rich red flowers are well formed and exhibit ruffled petals. Petals are wider in outer rows and form an excellent base for the more ruffled interior petals. Stigmas and sheath are red. Filaments are dark red throughout. Flares are small and generally not visible. Carriage is outward and and exhibit a small amount of the “lutea hook” trait. One bud per stem with the occasional side bud. The broad attractive foliage is deep green and flushed in red early in the season. Plants reach approximately 3 feet in Wisconsin and are annually productive. This is an advancement in red lutea hybrids, which have presented difficulties for overall plant & flower worthiness. Seed and pollen fertility is higher than most other lutea hybrids, given parents are compatible. Has been used in intersectional crosses to create beautiful red semi-double offspring, without the poor foliage many red intersectionals exhibit. Ships in late September to mid October. AGE: Field grown, 4+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
