Paeonia potaninii variety trolliodes.  Woody species.  Western China.  Very small plants, only reaching 8 to 12 inches.  The 2″ flowers are a strong yellow and stand up above the short foliage.  Flowers are somewhat cup shaped like trollis blooms.  Plants are highly stoloniferous, with new plants arising up to 24″ away from the nearest plant.  Paeonia delavayi complex plants are marginally hardy here in Wisconsin and we recommend this plant be grown in a more sheltered situation than most peonies.  We’ve grown this plant for many years and have not had trouble overwintering however.  Divisions are long stolons which tend to have few roots.  This plant is for the expert grower and we will not guarantee success.  Fertile with selected parents.  Does not appear to be self fertile.  Very rare and only a few available.  Ships late September to mid October.
