Dionysus

Dionysus (God of Wine). Daphnis. 1995. Advanced generation lutea hybrid. Parentage Gauguin F1 (self-pollinated) F2 hybrid. Bright red single, color like F1 Gauguin but much brighter, with veins running from the center to the edge of each petal. Dionysus has the crystal color of a good red wine. Plants are reliable and have one bud per stem.  Flowers produce pollen, but do not have seed fertility.  Lightly fragrant.   Good stem strength, 3-5 feet in height, dark foliage, and blooms in the late part of the Lutea Hybrid group season.   Plants produce beautiful, large leaves, carried on thick stems.  Plants sucker, creating a large planting over time.  A rare plant in commerce.  Seedling # D-365. Ships in late September to mid-October.  AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
