Hatsugarasu.  Japan.  1929.  Japanese suffruticosa.  Also known as Ubatama.  A very darkly pigmented red single flower.  Given a good growing location it can attain heights of 5 to 6 feet and present many blooms.  It is sensitive to overly wet conditions, so be sure to plant it in a well drained location.   This plant was heavily used in hybridizing F1 lutea hybrids by Saunders and Daphnis during their breeding days.  A very nice Japanese suffruticosa and collectors plant. Ships in late September to mid October.  Field grown, 4+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
