Hestia. (Goddess of the hearth).  Daphnis.  1977.  Lutea hybrid.  First bloomed 1973. Parentage: BC-2; BC-1 self pollinated. Rich bright red double, Four to five rows of petals, each row evenly arranged forming complete circles. Petals are rather small in comparison with other hybrids. There is a warm feeling in this flower. Stems nod with heavy blooms and are fragrant.  Registered as fertile, but we have not noted this to date.  Rare and quite nice.  Delicate foliage carried on a lower mounding plant.  Seedling # D-273.  Part of the Woody Peony Preservation Project.   Ships late September to mid October.  Field grown, 4+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
