High Noon

High Noon.  Saunders.  1952.  F1 lutea hybrid. Seedling #: 14307. Saunders’ Golden Hind Group. Clear yellow, generally semi-double with small raspberry flares.   Light yellow stigmas, sheath, and stamens.  An older hybrid that deserves attention.  Plants are very upright and extremely vigorous.  Flowers are carried on long stems and bloom sporadically throughout spring for us.  Flowers are often produced again in the fall season, after a second flush of growth.  Excellent fast grower that becomes tall over time, but will exhibit winter dieback to the ground in exposed locations.  Seed fertility noted.  (lutea x suffruticosa cultivar).  APS Gold Medal winner in 1989.  Part of the Saunders’ Golden Hind Group.
