Icarus

Icarus.  (Son of Daedalus, First Man To Fly). Daphnis.  1977.    Advanced generation lutea hybrid.  Single, red with two rows of pointed widely ruffled petals.  Pink-red stigmas, red sheath and stamens.  A brighter red-orange than Boreas, and leaves are larger.  Plants grow to about 3 feet and Wisconsin are extremely vigorous.  Easy to grow.  No fertility noted although reported by others.  Very good.  (unnamed F1 x self). Ships in late September to mid October.
