Prometheus. Daphnis.  1977.  Lutea hybrid.  Seedling # D-359.  Flowers are large, semi-double to single, and red with dark basal flares.  Much resembles Boreas in floral and plant habit, but the plants are not as upright.  Not particularly fertile, although its pollen may be useful.   Grows to 3.5 feet in height by 5 feet in width in Wisconsin.   An easy subject to grow.   Prometheus=Titan, –brought fire to man.  Parentage:  Generation—BC-3; D-101 (BC-1) x J-2 (Daioh). Ships in late September to mid-October. These are 2 year old grafted plants.  While plants are relatively small, they have youthful vigor and make wonderful additions to the garden.  Plant and grow them as you would older woody peonies.
