Roman Gold.  Saunders. 1941.  F1 Lutea Hybrid.  Saunders’ Roman Gold Group. Seedling #: 322 and 12618 (12618 is presumed to have been propagated from 322). Single flowers are a soft yellow leaning to gold with short, blunt red flares.   Flares crimson; filaments crimson. Stigmas creamy-yellow; sheath creamy. An extremely vigorous plant with excellent, medium-sized foliage.  Plants produce short suckers, which increase the clump size quickly.  Plant height in Wisconsin is about 30 inches.  A Woody Peony Preservation Program plant due to poor distribution and lack of reservoirs.  Excellent and well worth growing. Ships in late September to mid-October.  AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
