Royal Robe.  Klehm.  1995.  American suffruticosa.  Royal purple, semi-double Suffruticosa.  A seedling raised by Toichi Domoto.  Flowers have good substance and are fragrant. Large blooms have internal petal ruffling. Excellent stem strength, 3 ft. plus or minus in Wisconsin.  One bud per stem.  Fertile seed and pollen.  An excellent purple-violet selection.  The large, deep blue-green foliage is clean and carried on thick stems. This cultivar is very similar (if not the same) as Imperial Crown-if you purchase either, avoid the other. Ships in late September to mid-October.  AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
