Sea of Tranquility.  Gratwick.  1996.  American suffruticosa.  Chugai seedling. Parentage unknown. Flowers are pure white with variable red flares, semi-double, and are produced one per stem.  The three rows of petals are arranged in perfect order, which seems as if the white waves are immersed from the center to the outer space (per registration).  Plants grow to 4+ feet in Wisconsin and somewhat less in width.  Foliage has unique, long red petioles. Plants are fertile both ways.  While flowers are relatively simple, they are displayed to perfection and should be of interest to anyone who enjoys growing woody peonies. Rarely seen in commerce and a Woody Peony Preservation Program cultivar. Ships in late September to mid-October.  AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.

Color: White-Cream
FLOWER CHARACTERISTICS: Semi-double
