Summer Night. Saunders. 1949. F1 lutea hybrid. Saunders’ Banquet Group. Medium-sized single flowers of rose color with dark flares. Anthers are naked (waxy). Yellow stigmas and crimson sheath. Foliage is tinted in bronze and is very ornamental. Easy grower and recommended for Zones 5 to 8 (may be grown in colder zones with protection or microclimate). Of all the woody peonies, this plant has the most beautifully colored foliage – deep green with large red-bronze coloration throughout the season and accentuated in the autumn. This cultivar and ‘Tiger Tiger’ appear to be the same plant in commerce, probably due to an early mix-up in these cultivars’ distribution by other nurseries. Plants to 3 feet in height in Wisconsin. No fertility. Ships in late September to mid-October. AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
