Sunrising. Saunders. 1948. F1 Lutea Hybrid. Seedling #:16416. Saunders’ Tea Rose Group. Much like the Reath cultivar ‘Sunrise’, which may be a synonym. Semi-double soft creamy flower with pink tones of varying intensity and maroon basal flares. Petals are highly ruffled and crinkled. A gorgeous, ornate flower. Pink stigmas, reddish stamens, and red sheath. Foliage is wide and deep green. Good stem hardiness and excellent vigor. Plants are 3.5 feet in height and 4 feet in width, in Wisconsin, perhaps taller in areas with warmer winters. Easy to grow and recommended. A rare plant in commerce, and well worth growing. Woody Peony Preservation Project cultivar. Ships in late September to mid-October.
