Wings of Morning. Saunders. 1948. F1 Lutea Hybrid.  Seedling # 16469.  Saunders’ Roman Gold Group.  Single to semi-double. Pale yellow-cream flower of heavy substance. Furled back. Small flares are wide and dark. Filaments are creamy reddish. Stigmas cream-white, sheath cream-white, with blush of pink. Anthers are waxy and without pollen.  No fertility. A strong-growing plant has medium green, unblemished foliage of large size and substance.  This cultivar is often mixed up in commerce with Helios (a Daphnis hybrid), which produces pollen and is a darker yellow.  A Woody Peony Preservation Project cultivar.   Ships in late September to mid-October.  AGE: Field-grown, 3+ year old graft or division from larger plants – our choice of available plant material upon harvest.
